Truffle growing research is run under the FITAM project (Italian version) on truffle farming, within the Marche Region Rural Development Programme (RDP) - Measure 16.1. Members of the Operational Group are ASSAM, universities and organisations of the sector. Further experimental trials are performed according to the Regional Law 5/13 on truffle growing.
The service is structured in:
- Experimental lines of the Measure 16.1 of the Marche Region RDP, for the effective management of truffle-grounds to prevent the production decline of the old ones and to innovate the nursery techniques. The innovation activity is carried out by ASSAM, with the aim to produce symbiotic plants in good physiological conditions and with an healthy aerial and root structure able to provide the plant with an effective and capillary root ground settlement.
- The experiments under the Regional Law 5/13 on truffle growing. They are conducted in the natural areas of the Piceno and of the Pesaro-Urbino provinces and concern the implementation of high-altitude truffle grounds, the monitoring of public funded truffle grounds (from the ’90ties up to 2010), as well as the analysis of the importance of clay in the productivity of truffle grounds.
