The Organisational Position “Quality certification and inspections coordination” was established by Decree of the General Director n. 120 of 05.05.2022, within the General Directorate. The ASSAM Public Control Authority (Italian acronym - APC):

• Provides services related to the Agro-food Quality productions: control and certification of products labelled with Quality regulated and voluntary marks;
• Guarantees the implementation of certification schemes in a competent, consistent and impartial manner according to the standard UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17065 (accreditation of Certification bodies);
• Accredited by ACCREDIA to provide for voluntary product certification, it is designated by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mi.P.A.F.) for the control of PDO-IGP-STG brand products and is authorised by the Marche Region to certify QM - ”Marche Guaranteed Quality” brand products.
• Supports the Marche Region on the QM ”Marche Guaranteed Quality”: it can implement projects for the enhancement of agri-food production and provide training and dissemination on quality issues.

The APC is responsible towards the subjects involved in the production control and certification in terms of:

• Providing an independent and objective service, to the applicant organisations in view of the branded products’ commercial implications;
• Proof to the competent authorities/entities/institutions (MiP.A.A.F., Marche Region and ACCREDIA) under penalty of issuing notices, also of sanctioning nature (in the case of the MiP.A.A.F), the fully compliance with the specifications and control plans;
• Guarantee to consumers the veracity of the branded products’ certifiable requirements.
